After finding himself in trouble over remarks about LGBTQ+ representation in a Disney film, Snoop Dogg has released a statement.
During a recent appearance on the It's Giving podcast, he recounted taking his grandson to see Lightyear in 2022 - a sci-fi, action-adventure offshoot of the Toy Story series.
This family-oriented film follows Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Chris Evans) on his journey to return home, featuring a montage with his best friend Alisha Hawthorne (Uzo Abuda).
In the scene, Alisha falls in love, marries, and welcomes a child with a fellow female space crew member named Kiko, culminating in the two characters sharing a kiss at their son's graduation.

Expressing that the scene left him 'afraid to go to the movies', rapper Snoop told podcast hosts last week he faced numerous questions from his grandsons about same-sex relationships.
"They said, 'She had a baby with another woman,'" the 54-year-old recounted. "Well, my grandson, right in the middle of the movie, asked, 'Papa Snoop? How does she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!'"
Snoop then claimed: "Oh s***, I didn’t come for this s**t. I just wanted to watch the movie. They just said, 'She and she had a baby, they’re both women. How does she have a baby?'

"It really threw me off. I’m like, scared to go to the movies. You all are putting me in situations I don’t have answers for."
He continued: "It really surprised me. I’m like, 'What part of the movie was this?' These are kids. Do we have to show this at their age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answers."
Predictably, Snoop's comments caused a significant backlash, with one social media user criticizing him last week: "What a terrible view on the lesbian couple. It’s 2025 & people are still being homophobic?"

"Does he not understand what adoption is?" another queried.
In response to the widespread criticism, the musician acknowledged that he misspoke while under pressure.
"I was just caught off guard and didn’t have answers for my grandsons," Snoop commented on a Hollywood Unlocked Instagram post. "All my gay friends [know] the situation, they’ve been reaching out with support."
Issuing an apology, he added: "My bad for not having answers for a 6-year-old … teach me how to learn, I’m not perfect."

Captain America star Chris Evans - who voices the main character in the Disney hit - has previously called individuals who criticize the inclusion of a same-sex couple 'idiots'.
Speaking to Reuters, the 44-year-old criticized: "Every time there’s been social progress, as we evolve, the American story, the human story is one of ongoing social awakening and growth, and that’s what makes us great."
"There will always be people who are scared and unaware, trying to hold on to the past."

He added: "But those people eventually fade away like dinosaurs. The goal should be to ignore them, keep moving forward, and embrace the growth that defines our humanity."
Tyla has reached out to Snoop Dogg's representatives for a comment.
